About me

I was born in London in the early seventies and moved to Northamptonshire in the early eighties. I've previously worked as an office administrator and, more recently, a teaching assistant, supporting children with additional needs.

I now live in the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside with my husband and grown-up stepdaughter.

Over the last thirty years, when I haven't been working my full-time job, I have extensively researched my family history and that of my clients, friends, and colleagues. Researching these family histories has been an honour, and it is my privilege to tell their stories.

What do I offer?

I research family histories from England, Wales and Scotland. If you are interested in family history from Ireland, please do contact me and I'll see if I can help you.

I offer a variety of surname packages to suit your requirements, and it couldn't be easier to get started. Once you've decided which package you would like, I will send you an information gathering sheet for you to record as much information as you already know about the person or people you would like me to research. Don't worry if you don't know much, as quite often only a little information is required to find the person you're looking for.

Before you commit to the purchase, I will use the information you have provided to conduct preliminary searches to ensure the project is viable. Once I'm satisfied that I can trace your chosen family back far enough, I will request a 50% deposit, with the balance payable upon completion of the project.

Surname packages can take time to research and write, so please let me know early if it is for a gift or another special occasion.

Once I have completed the research part of the project, I will use all of the evidence I have gathered, for example, census returns, newspaper articles, birth, marriage and death records, to write your ancestor's story, really bringing them to life. Once written, all books will be printed on quality 160 gsm paper and held in place with a binder embossed with "Family History" in gold lettering. The binders come in a range of colours for you to choose from,

As well as the story of your ancestor's lives, also included are all of the documents that I found during my research. I will also compile a family tree for each surname researched, which will also be included in the book.

If you have any photographs and documents that you would like included in the book, that's no problem.

One surname package

With a one surname package, you choose the starting person, and I will trace their surname (paternal line) back as far as possible. The finished book will tell the story of your ancestors' lives and will include a family tree and all of the certificates, census returns and other documents that were used during the research process.

This popular package is ideal for people who would like a family history of their parents. The finished book will tell the story of your ancestors' lives. Also included are two family trees and all of the certificates, census returns and other documents that were used during the research process.

Four surname package

The four surname package is perfect if you would like to know the family history of both sets of grandparents. As with the other packages, the finished book will contain four family trees, tell the story of your ancestors lives and contain all of the certificates, census returns and other documents that were used during the research process.
